The Criminal Investigation Division of the Saline County Sheriff Office investigates all felony crimes that occur in the unincorporated areas of the county. There are eleven full time investigators under the leadership of Lieutenant Michael Frost. The division also has one secretary, and one victim’s advocate.
In addition to Lt. Frost, the division is staffed by Detective Sergeant Sandra Romeo, Detective-Corporal Gary Robertson, Detective Tony Baugh, Detective Ron Parson, Detective Justin Stuart, Detective Micah Hall, and two Narcotic Detectives. The Domestic Violence Unit also has two detectives, Detective-Sergeant Alison Scifres and Detective Jordan Ables. The unit also has two victim advocate's, Janelle Archer, and Stephanie Burnett. The C.I.D Secretary, Shannon Chism, also has the responsibility of being the Sex Offender Coordinator for the approximately 100 Registered Sex Offenders living in the unincorporated areas of the county.
Once a uniformed deputy takes a report, C.I.D. will begin a follow-up investigation, on felony crimes. Investigators are responsible for contacting and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects. They are responsible for processing crime scenes which includes processing and cataloging of all evidence and then submitting evidence to the State Crime Lab. Investigators prepare affidavits for arrest and search warrants and then serve these warrants. Investigators also assist patrol deputies with fatality accidents. Several negligent homicide convictions have been obtained against drivers in fatality accidents.
