Search & Rescue

Shortly after 9-11 the Sheriff's Office saw a need for a search & rescue team for the county. After several meeting and much discussion the Saline County Sheriff Search & Rescue Team was formed.

The S&R team is made up of laypersons, First Responders, EMT's, Game & Fish Officers, and Deputies. They donate their time to meet, train, and practice search techniques. They utilize dogs, horses, 4-wheelers, and extra personnel to walk, ride or do whatever is needed to find the lost. The team is also utilized for all types of disasters in the searching and rescuing of victims.

After several years the S&R Team Leader, Paul Viner, located a tracking/monitoring device known as PROJECT LIFESAVER. PROJECT LIFESAVER is a monitoring device form anyone, young or old, who may have a tendency to wander away from home. This loved one may have Alzheimer's, autism, or any other brain deficiency where they become lost or confused in unfamiliar surroundings. The system was purchased and after several days of training, was put into service.

Should you, a friend, or co-worker have someone missing or lost, please do not hesitate to call 911. If you have any questions about Search & Rescue or PROJECT LIFESAVER, please feel free to contact us.
