The Rotary Club honored Saline County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Rachelle Stewart as "Deputy of the Month" yesterday at Browns County Store & Restaurant. Deputy Stewart has been with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) for less than one year, but her presence has greatly enhanced the professionalism at the SCSO. Lieutenant Jeffrey Silk, Patrol Division Supervisor, described Dep. Stewart as a hard-working, dedicated and professional deputy who is always early for her tour and frequently stays over to complete her reports. Lt. Silk labeled Dep. Stewart as a “de-escalator.” Lt. Silk stated that regardless of the stress level that is displayed by victims, witnesses, suspects, prisoners or even other deputies, Dep. Stewart has the ability to calm the situation before it escalates. Lt. Silk stated that Dep. Stewart is well-deserving of this award and is a good role model for other SCSO deputies. The Rotary Club is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary Club members are business and professional leaders who volunteer in their communities and promote world understanding and peace. Dep. Stewart was presented with a certificate from the Rotary Club and a gift card at a local business establishment.
