Alexander Accidental Death (Tree Trimming)

During the morning of Tuesday, March 10, 2015, Capital City Tree Service was topping a tree in the 1700 block of Wildwood Road in Alexander.  The crew of four was using a bucket truck to assist in cutting the tree down in sections, beginning from the top.

At approximately 11:00 am, a large limb was cut from the tree.  The extended boom of the bucket truck was being used to lower that limb to the ground.  The limb quickly dropped, which resulted in the boom becoming unstable.  Mr. Shelby Jackson was thrown from the bucket and fell approximately thirty five feet to the ground.

Sheriff Rodney Wright indicated that detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were on scene within minutes of the accident.  Accounts from several eye witnesses were consistent with what has been reported in this press release.

Shelby Jackson, 46 years of age from Pulaski County, was pronounced dead at the scene by Saline County Deputy Coroner Dena Turney.  Due to this being an on-the-job death, Mr. Jackson’s body was removed and transported to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock.

Mr. Jackson has several relatives in Pulaski County and next of kin was notified at approximately 12:00 pm.
