Saline County is named for the early salt works in the area that supplied salt for Arkansas and its bordering states, and the county was once the leading producer of bauxite in the nation. The Gann Museum of Saline County chronicles the county’s history and contains large bauxite boulders.
Visit Saline County for national forest recreation, good fishing in the Saline River, and you may recognize the stately county courthouse, which was seen in the 1973 movie White Lightning, starring Burt Reynolds.
