Mother Charged with Attempted Capital Murder
On April 13, 2016, Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies responded to an address in the 800 block of Lakeshore Drive, Mablevale, for a welfare check.
When deputies arrived, contact was made with Sommer Hyatt. Ms. Hyatt was in need of medical treatment and the East End Fire and Rescue responded and assisted. Ms. Hyatt was later transported to an area hospital.
Also present at the address was a small child. Deputies determined that the child was also in need of medical treatment and an additional medic unit was immediately dispatched. That child was transported to Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) were contacted and responded to the scene. Based on the investigation conducted by the first responding deputies as well as the detectives from CID, a warrant was obtained for Sommer Leann Hyatt, W/F, 33 years of age, for Attempted Capital Murder, a Class Y Felony, Introduction into the Body of Another, a Class C Felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a Class D Felony.
Ms. Hyatt was booked into the SCSO Detention Center early yesterday morning. She was released later that afternoon on a $100,000 signature bond.
The child was released from the hospital and is recuperating.
