12/01/2018 Breaking or Entering in Vehicles in Saline County |
|||
Recently, numerous incidents of breaking or entering have occurred throughout Saline County. In many of these incidents; valuables such as wallets, cash, cell phones, computers and tablets have been stolen from vehicles parked at residences. The common element to all of these crimes is that the vehicles were left unlocked overnight. It is important for residents to understand that in most of these cases, these are “crimes of opportunity”. The criminals will only check to see if the vehicle is locked and move on. If your vehicle is unlocked, they will rummage through it to find whatever they can of value. Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright stated “The first line of defense against crimes such as this is making sure your vehicle is locked every time you leave it alone. Additionally, it is extremely important that you never leave valuables in your car, even in your own driveway. This includes your car keys.” SCSO detectives are actively working on these cases and encourage anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the criminals to contact them at 501-303-5608 or on the anonymous crime tip hotline at 501-303-5744. |
